"Padua is its city walls"

Carraro sponsors the city of Padua and its history

Gruppo Carraro, one of the key international producers of gear systems for agricultural and earth-moving machines, has always focused particularly on the cultural activities of a certain prestige held in the city of Padua. Think about the "Amici della Musica" initiatives or how it supports the Orchestra of Padua and the Veneto region.

And today, when faced with the chance to support the exhibition about the city walls, again Carraro was simply not prepared to stay away. Because only by making the most of our past and our history can we attempt to build our future.

Indeed, the city of Padua, 500 years on from the construction of its city walls, wishes to pay tribute to itself and its priceless historical heritage by opening an exhibition dedicated to its walls, called "Padua is its walls".

The exhibition, which opened on 28 March, will run until 20 July in the Musei Civici agli Eremitani and is promoted by the Municipality of Padua - Department of Culture, Museums and Libraries Sector and by the City Wall Committee of Padua, with the support of Fondazione Cariparo and Gruppo Carraro, it aims to reconstruct half a millenium of the history of the city walls through archaeological remains, manmade structures, arms and war tools, drawings, engravings, precious books and ancient paintings, in addition to specifically created reconstructions (elevations, models, videos, etc.).

The purpose of the exhibition is to display and celebrate the walls, but most of all to bring them back to the centre of the cultural debate on the future of the city: no longer as a town planning issue, but as an identifying cornerstone and resource for the city.
