Carraro CVT: new solution for special and compact utility tractors

The new Powersplit CVT transmission represents a further step in the already wide range dedicated to agricultural tractors from 25 to 180 kW, which is now divided into 3 different technological levels:

• Mechanical Transmissions (Synchro Shuttle & Shift)
• Power Shift Transmissions (Power High/Low & Power Shuttle)
• Carraro Twin ShiftTM (Power Shift Dual Clutch) electronically controlled transmissions

All products are based on a modularity and scalability approach: the same rear module can in fact be interfaced with different front modules to obtain complete transmissions with different levels of technology.

Successfully presented at Agritechnica, the most important international event dedicated to the agricultural sector, today this solution, suitable for engines starting from 80 kW, is getting considerable interest from the market.

The Carraro CVT module consists of a hydrostatic module (consisting of pump and motor) which, inserted within a correct mechanical layout, provides the characteristic continuous speed and torque variation.

To obtain torque delivery with the lowest possible power losses, the transmission scheme is based on the 3 CVT ranges interfaced with a High / Low reduction group, all managed automatically through the electronic control.

All CVT Front Modules are interchangeable with other Carraro agricultural transmissions that have the same nominal power and are managed by the Carraro proprietary ECU (fully compliant with ISO 25119 Ag Pl d – Functional Safety), which on the one hand acts as the main control for the entire powertrain and on the other hand also controls the additional functions of the tractor,  such as the rear lift and other auxiliaries.
